Do I need my own OpenAI API key?
Yes. MeetScribe uses your key (BYOK) so you control cost and privacy. Typical spend is ~$0.02–0.10 per meeting with gpt-4o-mini.
Is my meeting data sent to your servers?
No backend. Captions and chat stay in Chrome. Transcript text goes to OpenAI only when a call ends, using your key.
How is this different from Otter or Fireflies?
MeetScribe is a Chrome extension for Google Meet only — no bot joins your call. You bring your own OpenAI key, so it is cheaper and more private for individuals and small teams.
What does Pro include?

How do I capture chat from other participants?
Turn on captions and keep the in-call chat panel open during the meeting. MeetScribe reads chat messages from the panel while you are in the call.

Not yet — Google Meet only today. Zoom and Teams are on the roadmap after MeetScribe is stable on Meet.
