Privacy Policy
This policy describes how MeetScribe collects, handles, stores, and shares user data. MeetScribe is a browser extension that helps Google Meet users turn captions and chat into meeting recaps. We do not operate a backend server for meeting content.
Summary
- Meeting captions and chat are captured locally in your browser.
- AI processing uses your own OpenAI API key — transcript text is sent to OpenAI only when a meeting ends.
- Optional integrations (Notion, Jira, Slack, Linear, Asana, Gumroad, feedback, analytics, error reporting) only run when you configure or trigger them.
- We do not sell user data or use it for advertising.
Data Collection
We collect or process the following data only when you use MeetScribe:

We do not collect passwords, payment card numbers, or Google account credentials.
Data Handling (Processing)
How we handle data after collection:
- During a Google Meet call: The extension reads caption and chat text visible in the Meet page and stores segments locally on your device. No transcript is sent to our servers.
- When the call ends: If you configured an OpenAI API key, the transcript is sent to OpenAI to produce structured meeting output (summary, decisions, action items, etc.).
- When you choose: You can copy exports, sync to Notion/Jira/Slack/Linear/Asana, submit feedback via Formspree, or (Pro) save searchable local history.
All processing for meeting content is initiated by your use of the extension. We do not batch-process meetings on developer-operated servers.
Data Storage
- Settings and API keys: Chrome

We do not sell, rent, or trade user data. We do not use data for advertising.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure
MeetScribe's use of information received from Google APIs and user data obtained through the Chrome extension will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements:
- Data is used only to provide or improve the extension's meeting-recap functionality.
- Data is not used for personalized advertising.
- Data is not sold to third parties.
- Data is not used for creditworthiness or lending decisions.
- Human access to user data occurs only with your consent, for security, for legal compliance, or in aggregated/anonymized form for analytics as described above.
Your Choices and Controls
- OpenAI processing: Requires your own API key in Settings. Without a key, AI recaps are not generated.
- Analytics opt-out: Settings → Privacy → Opt out of anonymous usage analytics (PostHog).
- Viral footer: Settings → Privacy → disable appended export branding.
- Clear local data: Use Clear all in the popup or remove extension data via Chrome settings.
- Optional integrations: Notion, Jira, Slack, Linear, Asana, Gumroad, and feedback are entirely optional.
No account with MeetScribe is required.
Security
- API requests to third-party services use HTTPS.
- API keys are stored locally in Chrome storage on your device, not on our servers.
- Optional Sentry reports scrub API keys and long transcript snippets before sending.

Children's Privacy
MeetScribe is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and publish a new extension version on the Chrome Web Store when required.
